Portugal is a fantastic destination for a fun and relaxing single parent family holiday, and our holidaymakers think so too! Take a look below at some of the testimonials from single parents and kids who've been on Algarve and other overseas holidays with us...
" Out of all the wonderful SWK holidays Maisie and I have been on abroad. This has been top of the list. A superb hotel, lovely staff and we have been blessed with a great set of singletons and their kids! So relaxing – even for just a week and a good choice of activities and excursions. It has been an absolute joy of a holiday. Much needed by us all. Another SWK triumph. It would be totally remiss of me not to give special mention to Sarah Gray – our wonderful coordinator/ Organised, calm, unflappable, one step ahead and brilliant. Oh and lovely too…. A special coordinator (and person)
Bravo Sarah. Bravo SWK
We’ve had a superb holiday "
" • Memories of Portugal 2013
• G&T club
• Mandy mounting a horse in the dining room and other holiday makers taking photos
• The aqua – aerobics instructor making 3 old ladies very happy
• After dark activities in the tennis courts
• Tarot readings
• Gangham style (groan…)
• 24 hour eating frenzy
• Swimming with dolphins
• Very drinkable rose wine
• Great hotel with helpful staff
• Catching up with old friends and making new ones
• A great coordinator in Sarah
• Sun, sun, sun!
• A fabulous holiday
Thanks everyone!! "
" What a wonderful SWK trip
Fantastic hotel and staff, fab trips, especially the zoo marina, Ben absolutely loved swimming with the dolphins.
Having Sarah as our coordinator last year in Turkey I knew I could come away safe in the knowledge that the trips would be organised, and I wasn’t disappointed! Sarah works so hard to accommodate the whole group and I feel her easy going and approachable manner is appreciated by all.
The group I feel have bonded well and I have to say all the children have been a real delight to be around. The only negative id say is I wish is booked 10 days!!! "
" Wow 7 years of no holiday and its been worth the wait. Have had an amazing time, made friends and been abroad! Portugal is fantastic, hotel resort has been beautiful, so big and plenty to do. Good food, company and fun.
Sarah has been an amazing ‘group mum’ and it has been lovely talking to adults (supposed to just kids) and finding out their individual stories. Kids have been great have bonded. Thank you "
" Another wonderful holiday with SWK. AS we do each holiday abroad we say this has been the best one but this defiantly has. The organisation has been brilliant, the hotel has been fabulous leaving nothing to be desired. An absolutely beautiful location with a perfect mix of entertainment or peace and quiet. Much as I want to visit different places I would certainly come back to this hotel.
Sarah as coordinator has been superb and been there to sort out our every need. I have watched SWK develop over the past 4 years and look forward to after Christmas to see what is in the pipeline for next year to come. Well done. Keep up the high standards! "
" This has been our first SWK experience and we have loved every minute of it. The resort is fabulous with helpful, polite and friendly staff. Entertainment is fun but you can also find quieter places and moments of calm.
We love the beach with its exciting waves. We have met lovely people and that is the highlight of the holiday. Sarah has been a brilliant coordinator we felt totally relaxed as she took care of everything. Thank you Sarah!
My favourite trip was to the markets at Loule where we had a taste of real Portugal.
I will be remembering this holiday over the long winter months and cherishing the memories and friendships made. Thank you SWK! "
" We already knew what a fantastic time we would have on our second SWK holiday.
The 2 years in between our holidays has not dimmed the friendships Harvey and I made last time – we now have a new set of fabulous people to call friends.
The mixture of ages and boys and girls has been perfect, with the little uns, pre-teens and teens all enjoying their company and happily mixing – especially on the tennis courts every evening, away from prying eyes!
Sarah has been the perfect host for all of us this holiday – great communicator and totally unfazed at whatever has been thrown her way. Thank you Sarah!
This is, sadly, our last day – and normality returns tomorrow – but the memories will last – as will the photographic evidence he he he!! "
" Our first SWK trip….
Well our family was one of three newbies on this trip and I, pleased to say it will be the first of many.
The group is fantastic you don’t need to explain why you are on your own and single – everyone gets it.
My 7 year old has told me he feels like a grown up getting to eat with the older kids who have been brilliant with him. He was never made to feel too little to join in.
The hotel is fantastic and amazing resort and I may even return one day.
Finally a big thank you to our coordinator Sarah and her some Alex who have gone out of their way to ensure everyone feels welcome. "
" It was a brilliant trip, everyone had a great time, the adults and the kids! Elaine was a fabulous coordinator, there were tears when we left.
The accommodation was lovely, staff friendly and helpful . Location excellent. Group size good …Elaine was fantastic, a great coordinator from welcoming us as we arrived to making sure everyone was ok during our stay. We had great fun, adults and kids alike. Was great to meet up with old freinds and make new ones! Great value for money – the food was lovely, noone had a dodgy belly!! Great value for money, lovely location and brilliant people! Thank you SWK!! X "
" Couldn’t fault hotel. Staff were great And very friendly and helpful. Everyone seemed to really get on with each other, kids and adults alike. I would just like to say that Elaine was a fantastic coordinator and we couldn’t have asked for a better organiser or friendly face to go to if there were any problems.
Highlight: Not seeing the kids for a week! Seriously it was Elaine’s organisation and the lovely group of people we were with. "
" We both had an excellent time, Thea loved being with all the other children
Elaine our Co-Ordinator was fantastic, she was extremely helpful and very organised, nothing was too much trouble. The highlight: Thea having so much fun with all the other kids and the fantastic group I was with. Everything was excellent! "
" The coordinator, Elaine was great. She really put a lot of effort into making sure the group had lots to do and stayed together. It was also nice that the trips were reasonably priced and that there was no pressure to book them like you normally get on package holidays. This format really worked for me and my daughter. It was lovely to be able to get some guilt-free adult time knowing that she was having fun with her friends. It’s the first holiday since I’ve had her where I actually got to read a book!
I’ll definitely do more holidays with SWK – I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders knowing that I’ll always have a group of friends we can holiday with. Incidentally, I think there’s a gap in the market for this type of holiday for families with one child, because keeping an only-child entertained on holiday is difficult even if you’re holidaying with an adult
It was a lovely way to spend the Easter holidays. Much better than sitting in the rain at home. "
" Just back from a FAB SWK hol in Tunisia! Met some really lovely people and made some great new friends. Thanks Elaine for being such a great organiser and mum to all! Anyone dithering about going in the summer – definitely go! It was truely fab! "
" Back from an amazing week in Tunisia, excellent food, loads of drink and met some more amazing people. Couldn’t have asked for more! "
" The most awesome holiday thank you all so much for making mine & Noah’s first SWK holiday so fabulous x "
" It ticks all the boxes , I like that you can walk on the beach with out crossing any roads ,in door swimming pool ,food was nice and the flights not too long. My 4th (SWK) holiday say no more! "
" Elaine was brilliant. I would definitely do another SWK holiday.. the hotel was great and the staff lovely I think you all did a great job, as before, Chrissy, Elaine and Rachel. "
" The whole thing worked brilliantly. I have to say I was a little apprehensive when the green bags arrived but it couldn’t have worked out better for us. Linda was a great coordinator – friendly, helpful and laid back, which helped us all to relax straight away.
Lovely quiet location, small family run feel, beautiful gardens, great company. It’s great to know I can plan and book a super holiday for us both. Matilda had the time of her life and saw that she wasn’t the only child from a single parent family. Many thanks. "
" My son really loved the holiday and meeting other children. He absolutely grew in confidence in the swimming pool as he made friends and spent the days largely playing in the pool with new friends. I loved how the 2 eight year old girlfriends he made would come to the door of our room and call for him for dinner!
The write up was accurate and the pictures too – both these and the text absolutely got the ethos and environment bang on.
We couldn’t fault this holiday. It was absolutely what I wanted and needed. Beautiful location, great standard of hotel. It was a great group, and good to be able to dip in or out of the group aspect with no pressure. Very relaxed. We all pitched in to signing up for the Aqua slide day out which was a lot of fun, then a few of us informally on the last day rented Quad bikes for the day and scoured a little of the island. Best fun I’ve had in ages!
It was like being part of a group holiday family and I could at times just relax knowing that my son was being watched by others in the group, especially once closer friendships were forged which happened naturally and quickly. "
" Lovely location, hotel, pool.Lovely people, everything I hoped it would be. It was just what we needed. Being the sole parent of a teenager who cant stand the sight of me a lot of the time, it was great to have other adults and kids for both of us to talk to and spend time with. It meant we could holiday together but not drive each other mad. Everyone was really lovely and the whole environment felt very supportive. "
