Skiing in Bulgaria
Bulgaria is rapidly becoming a favourite for family skiing – great for all skiing abilities with interesting runs, comfortable hotels and prices that don’t break the bank. We’re heading to Borovets for our skiing holiday, the oldest Bulgarian winter resort with a history from 1896.
The real charm of Borovets is seen in winter. The excellent skiing in the area attracts thousands of mountain lovers from Bulgaria and overseas. Huddled in pine woods 1,390 meters above sea level, the highest pistes top 2,600m, with snow cover usually reaching from December through to April.
Situated within easy reach of Sofia airport, Borovets is a Alpine type resort with snow sports during the winter and mountain biking during the summer months. There is skiing, night-skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, ski jumps and biathlon and ski-doo, in the resort. Over the years Borovets has developed into a popular and good quality ski resort with excellent hotels, restaurants, discos, shops and a good choice of pistes and lifts.
The Borovets area is great for all abilities. For beginners, there is English speaking instruction and the nursery slopes are gentle. There’s a good variety of runs for intermediates all serviced by a well organised life system including a six seat gondola lift.
With 45 kilometres of pistes of varying difficulty, there’s certainly plenty of choice. The pistes are grouped into 3 regions: Sitnqkovo – Martinovi Baraki – pistes; Markudjik and Yastrebets. The pistes on Yastrebets are the best with the resort being a regular host of various winter sports competitions (It’s also twice hosted World Cup competitions in Alpine skiing). Its biathlon track is one of the best in Europe. For the expert skiers there is the testing World Cup run, one of the more challenging pistes in the Yastrebets area or the excellent skiing through the trees and off-piste. With 14 snow cannons for artificial snow, snow cover is guaranteed.
The price includes the complete ski package of 6 days lift pass, ski & boot & helmet hire and group tuition, with groups for beginners, intermediates or advanced skiers. Snow boarding is also available.
Children can ski from the age of 5 in the groups , below this age we recommend that they go into the kindergarten ski club where they have a mix of skiing with other activities in-between and lunch is also provided. Toddlers are also catered for in the club and looked after all day.
This is a 7 night holiday, departing on Saturday 14th February 2015, returning on Saturday 21st February 2015

A selection of testimonials from our holidays
" A super holiday! Thanks! "
" The 3 of us had a great time. Unusually for me I don’t have any criticisms ! The hotel was very nice, the resort was good, the snow was abundant, Anadimir was perfect ! Even the travel was just right and we even touched down bang on time. Friday was fun. Matt treated us to champagne on the slope, how cool is that?! And the evening was fun! The highlight? The skiing: lots of snow, nice ski runs, not too many people, great ski instructor, decent weather "
" Everyone was so friendly and the whole experience was fantastic, I couldn't have wished for better. Will definitely book something again in the future. It gave me the confidence and reassurance that I needed to be able to take my son abroad and have a wonderful holiday together. "
" Another great Single with Kids holiday. Felt safe away abroad with Harley and met a great group of people. Looking forward to booking the next trip x "
" Never been on holiday since my some was born that was so filled with different activities. The jeep safari, boat trip, market, mud bath and rafting were exotic and exciting. The breakfasts, lunches, coffees, drinks and dinner were companionable and often filled with laughter. Sharon brought us all together but in the ends she wasn’t “our leader” but “one of us” All together it was priceless. "
" ….My kids shouted 'absolutely loved it!', in unison when I asked the question (how much did you enjoy your holiday) They both have very different personalities but the holiday setting, group, activities and skills and abilities of the coordinator, Sharon meant that they equally blossomed on holiday and had a truly great time. I also really enjoyed the style and pace of the holiday, and the jeep safari was a standout experience for us all!....
You can do as much or as little as you wish. There is something for everyone and I saw parents and children from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances and with different expectations for the holiday blend and bond to become a single fun-seeking, considerate and complimentary group.
